A "mansibado" wedding was sponsored by Bangkal Council 8824 to afford the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony to unwed couples living together for 5 years and over. The wedding took place at the Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes in Bangkal on Feb 7, the eve of the first Parish Fiesta.

Several couples responded but many were not able to satisfy the Church requirements on time. Eighteen couples made it to the wedding which was officiated by no other than Rev. Fr. Danilo Dotollo, the Bangkal Parish Priest.

Council 8824 raised funds to defray the expenses of the wedding including marriage license registration and reception after the mass. Our thanks to all Brother Knights and friends who donated the funds. There were some excess in the funds because of the overestimate in the number of beneficiaries. The excess funds would be used for another "mansibado" wedding next year as Fr. Danny, highly appreciative of the event's success, suggested that we conduct it as a yearly event until all "mansibados" in the Parish have been wedded. This was our first ever sponsorship of this kind of activity and we were truly excited about it as much as the wedded couples were. Most of the couples came from destitute areas in the community.
