  DD Andres Suero conducted the officers training on July 10, 2004 in one of the seminar kiosks at the Presentation of Mary Presentine grounds. Thirty six incoming officers from Councils 6738 (GSIS - 6), 8069 (San Pablo - 9), 8824 (Bangkal - 15), and 11048 (Maa - 7) were present. Mindanao Deputy Assistant and State Family Director Roger Sipalay (2nd row, 6th from right) assisted DD Suero (2nd row, 6th from left) in the discussions which lasted 4 hours from 1PM to 5PM.

  We have added seven new members to the KC family. They are Bryan Elcid M. Jovillo, Dioscoro D. Diezma, Philip C. Cuenca, Jeremy Michael M. Rimonin, Paul Wyeth C. Lee, Joel T. Bolivar, and Roche V. Dalupe. Brothers Bryan, Paul, and Roche were recruited by their respective fathers who are fourth degree Knights. This is the first exemplification conducted by the new Degree Team with Wymin Lee acting as Grand Knight, Jose Augusto Mangune as Deputy Grand Knight, Noel Villamor as Chancellor, Mauricio Jovillo as Warden, Rosarito Gordo as Financial Secretary, Panfilo Mangkikis as Inside Guard, and Peterlix Merquita as Outside Guard.

The degree team performed rather well: Pops Calio (GK), August Mangune (DGK), Noel Villamor (Chancellor), Boy Gordo (FS), Jun Jovillo (Warden), Phil Mangkikis (Inside Guard), Alan Ibaņez, Arnold Labrador, and Roberto Giducos (Outside Guards). The membership committee organized the event: Wymin Lee (Chairman) and Ed Tanudtanud. Thanks to Ben Lara and Lucilo Lastimado for handling the lecture. • Feb 3-4: Necrological Services for SK Raymundo P. Sasuman
  
  SK Raymundo is a 4th Degree Knight of Bishop Alfredo B. Bacquial Assembly #2444. He was suffering from Parkinsons and died on Jan 30, 2005. Necrological services in his honor were done on Feb 3 by Assembly 2444 and Council 6738. The Bangkal Knights guarded the wake and attended the burial of SK Raymundo on Feb 4. They are Noel Villamor (Cmdr), Rosarito Gordo, Wymin Lee, Edilberto Tanudtanud, Jose Augusto Mangune, Panfilo Mangkikis, and Angelino Mariano.

  2nd Sunday Offering and Arrozcaldo for 600 parishioners after the 7:30 AM Mass. Free-throw competition was also carried out jointly with Bangkal Squires 3956. There were 18 boys and 12 girls who participated.

  This was our fifth exemplification for CY 2004-2005. We have seven new members: Manuel P. Cabigas Jr, Gil G. Salido, Oscar P. Maynagcot, Ernesto M. Auditor, Dave Michael S. Miranda, Amiel T. Yambao, and Jessie Nestor G. Villagomesa. We now have 43 recruits for this CY.

  Our First Degree Team conducted an exemplification at St. Paul Council 8069. There were 16 candidates from St. Paul and 1 from our Council. Bro. Delvin Santos, our sole special recruit, is a seminarian at the Dominican Pre-Novitiate, St Albert the Great Convent in Calamba City, Laguna. Don as we call him is our scholar since June 2004. We are praying that with God's grace a Dominican Father shall rise from the ranks of Council 8824. This exemplification is our sixth for this CY and we now have 43 new recruits.

• MAY 8: OUR LADY OF PIAT VISITS BANGKAL
  
  
  On the occasion of its 400th Year, the Virgin of Piat Pilgrimage finally reached Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bangkal. The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus of Bangkal-Davao Council provided Honor Guards during reception of the Icon from St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Maa at dawn on May 8, 2005. At 3AM the following day, Council 8824 Knights continued the vigil from other Lay Organizations in the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and led the recitation of 300 Hail Marys thus completing the 2000 Hail Marys planned for the 24-hour stay of the Icon. At 4AM the Icon was escorted to San Isidro Labrador Parish in Catalunan Grande by the Parishioners and 8824 Knights. More info about the Lady of Piat can be found at www.piatbasilica.com.

  As we draw the Philippine Centennial Year to a close, we undertook our seventh first degree exemplification for CY 2004-2005. We have six new brother knights: Eduardo A. Etong, Mario J. Sarande, Renato B. Mondreza, Arnulfo R. Corsiga, Alejandro D. ALicaya, Jesus C. Villaceran. This addition brings our recruitment tally to 49 new members, the highest ever in the history of our Council.
